Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 3, 2026
“Study with Daniel Zhao” (the “Site”), at danielzhao.ca, is a personal study/portfolio web app operated by Daniel Zhao. This policy explains what data the Site accesses when you choose to connect a music account, and how it is handled.
The Site has no backend
The Site is a fully client-side web page. There is no application server that receives or stores your data. Any music-account access happens directly between your browser and Google/YouTube.
What we access (only if you connect an account)
- YouTube playback (no login): you can paste a public YouTube link and the Site plays it with the YouTube IFrame Player. No account access is involved.
- YouTube via Google (optional login): with your authorization, read-only
access (
youtube.readonly) to your YouTube playlists, solely to list and play them in the browser using the YouTube IFrame Player. - If you don’t log in, none of your account data is accessed.
How your data is handled
- OAuth tokens are stored only in your browser (local/session storage) to keep you signed in during your visit. They are sent only to Spotify/Google to make playback work.
- We do not collect, store on a server, sell, or share your personal data or playlists. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
- The Site also stores small preferences locally (e.g. added tracks, sticker placement).
YouTube API Services
The Site uses YouTube API Services. By using the YouTube features you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can review and revoke the Site’s access at Google account permissions (which also covers your YouTube data via the Google security settings page, security.google.com/settings/security/permissions).
Revoking access
You can disconnect at any time via the provider links above, or by clearing your browser’s site data for this Site.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
This policy may be updated; the “last updated” date will change accordingly.
